My husband and I started dating in September of 1998. That October, we dressed as a pimp and a hooker to Guavaween in Tampa. We got dressed at my parents house and they took a picture for us. (I’m pretty sure they were also mortified.)
From that Halloween on, we always dressed up together. (Maybe not always matching costumes.) He dressed as Mike Nesmith, and I wore in a vintage 1960’s dress. He dressed as Johnny Depp from Once Upon a Time in Mexico. I wore a random rehashed medieval dress thing. We dressed as 80’s prom partygoers.
One year we went trick or treating in my parents neighborhood. George dressed as a “little league soccer player.” People weren’t thrilled.
I love dressing up. Between Halloween’s, George and I used to go to anime conventions in Orlando and Tampa. We’d spend a couple of months putting together costumes with our highly limited sewing skills. Sometimes they turned out pretty cool.
When I was pregnant with Chipmunk, he dressed as a bandito and I dressed as his pregnant senorita. The year after that, I was home with the baby. The year after that, also home with the bigger baby. Last year we went trick or treating with Chipmunk about three weeks before I had Moose. (I dressed as Juno.)

This year, we’re planning on attending Adam’s Invaded party and I can’t wait. I get to dress up again! With grownups! We’re working on our costumes now. They’re a secret. Heh. Heh. Heh.
Halloween is right around the corner. Are you dressing up? Teaching the kids the awesomeness of dressing up?

I love the striped arms and aqua hair. You rock.

I love that you guys get so into Halloween! We’re never creative enough to come up with costumes. It’s my favorite holiday, but I’ve let the focus shift to the kids. (Though, even in college, we never did parties or anything. We were totally the Cool Kids, let me tell you.)

The decorating is my favorite part, too! As soon as September hits, it’s this countdown in my head until I can pull out all the boxes. I look forward to Halloween decorating much more than Christmas decorating, for sure.

Your costumes are great! And I love that you have so many photos. I have all these memories of costumes I’m pretty sure were awesome…but very few pictures to prove it. Can’t wait to find out about your super-secret upcoming costume!

I’m so jealous of sewing skillz. I rely entirely on thrift stores. Which is fun but sometimes you just can’t find that perfect thing you need to complete the look. Sewing and craftiness would totally help!

I’m a few days late, but enthusiastic — does enthusiasm count for anything?
I so have no idea what I’m doing for Halloween this year. But I have enough costume pictures to do a whole ‘nother post….
(p.s. That MAY OR MAY NOT be me in that purple hat. Oh I’m a dork.)
