Halloween is for grownups too!

My husband and I started dating in September of 1998. That October, we dressed as a pimp and a hooker to Guavaween in Tampa. We got dressed at my parents house and they took a picture for us. (I’m pretty sure they were also mortified.)

guavaweekFrom that Halloween on, we always dressed up together. (Maybe not always matching costumes.) He dressed as Mike Nesmith, and I wore in a vintage 1960’s dress. He dressed as Johnny Depp from Once Upon a Time in Mexico. I wore a random rehashed medieval dress thing. We dressed as 80’s prom partygoers.

One year we went trick or treating in my parents neighborhood.  George dressed as a “little league soccer player.”  People weren’t thrilled.

I love dressing up. Between Halloween’s, George and I used to go to anime conventions in Orlando and Tampa. We’d spend a couple of months putting together costumes with our highly limited sewing skills. Sometimes they turned out pretty cool.

When I was pregnant with Chipmunk, he dressed as a bandito and I dressed as his pregnant senorita. The year after that, I was home with the baby. The year after that, also home with the bigger baby. Last year we went trick or treating with Chipmunk about three weeks before I had Moose. (I dressed as Juno.)

This year, we’re planning on attending Adam’s Invaded party and I can’t wait. I get to dress up again! With grownups! We’re working on our costumes now. They’re a secret. Heh. Heh. Heh.

Halloween is right around the corner. Are you dressing up? Teaching the kids the awesomeness of dressing up?
